It’s been a busy October here as I’ve been setting up the Magic Research Group and the Journal of Performance Magic’s temporary home.  The Call for Papers for the journal will be out soon, but in the meantime don’t hesitate to contact us at with any enquires or comments (or you can use the web form if you like).

October also saw the Group’s launch and the marking of Dr. Todd Landman’s appointment as Visiting Professor of Performance Magic.  Todd teamed up with Paul Voodini to bring their show Edge of the Unknown to Milton Theatre, and during the day Professor Landman, ran a performance workshop with our drama students.  The workshop is entitled The Magician, the Mentalist and the Mystic, and explored different performance styles that are popular today.

Edge of the Unknown, stage set.

An extraordinary start to what promises to be an extraordinary time for performance magic research!
